Uitnodiging eindsympsosium Raymond Slot

Hogeschool Utrecht nodigt je van harte uit voor de afscheidsrede van Lector Raymond Slot met bijbehorend symposium op woensdagmiddag 1 oktober 2025. Het thema van de afscheidsrede en het symposium is:  Vrede in Europa. 

Raymond Slot is sinds 2022 lector van het lectoraat Cyber Security. Het thema van het lectoraat is: Make the World a SaferPlace. De afgelopen jaren heeft Raymond aan dit thema gewerkt vanuit het perspectief van Cyber Security.   
Keynote spreker is Prof. Dr. John Hagelin, president van de Global Union of Scientists for Peace. Hij is een gerespecteerd wetenschapper op het gebied van kwantummechanica.  Hagelin heeft in september 2024 een presentatie gegeven tijdens een bijeenkomst van winnaars van de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede en zal op 21 september 2025 — op de internationale dag van vrede — een presentatie geven voor de Verenigde Naties. 
 
De Global Union of Scientists for Peace richt zich op het elimineren van conflicten en oorlogen wereldwijd. De organisatie heeft een brede visie op vrede en veiligheid, met specifieke aandacht voor de oorzaken voor het ontstaan van conflicten. Deze benadering voor het creëren van vrede is gebaseerd op de resultaten van een twintigtal wetenschappelijke studies die de afgelopen vijftig jaar in conflictgebieden zijn uitgevoerd.  

Na de keynote van John Hagelin vervolgen we het programma met een panelgesprek. Hieraan nemen deel: Raymond Slot, John Hagelin, em. prof. Luc Henrard (Universiteit Leuven) en em. prof. Jacques Huyghe (Technische Universiteit Eindhoven). Dagvoorzitter is Annemarie van Gaal.

Invitation: Valedictory Symposium Raymond Slot

Utrecht University of Applied Sciences cordially invites you to the valedictory symposium of Professor Raymond Slot on Wednesday afternoon, October 1, 2025.  Raymond Slot has been a professor of the research group Cyber Security since 2022. The theme of the research group is Make the World a Safer Place. In recent years, Raymond has been working on this theme from the perspective of Cyber Security.

The Global Union of Scientists for Peace is an organization aimed at eliminating conflicts and wars worldwide. The organization takes a broad view of peace and security, focusing specifically on the causes of conflict. This approach to creating peace is based on the results of more than twenty scientific studies conducted in conflict zones over the past fifty years. 

After the keynote, the program will continue with a panel discussion. The participants are Dr. Ir. Raymond Slot MBA, prof. Dr. John Hagelin, em. prof. Dr. Ir. Luc Henrard MBA (University of Leuven) and em. prof. Dr. Ir. Jacques Huyghe (Eindhoven University of Technology). 

Chairman of the day is Annemarie van Gaal. This symposium is organized in cooperation with the Global Union of Scientists for Peace and the David Lynch Foundation Netherlands. 

Keynote speaker is Prof. Dr. John Hagelin, International President of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace. He is a respected scientist in the field of quantum mechanics. Hagelin presented at a gathering of Nobel Peace Prize winners in September 2024 and will make a presentation to the United Nations on Sept. 21, 2025 - the International Day of Peace.
